The Wave Finally Happened

After what seems like a lifetime of pundits saying “blue wave” this and that, it finally happened in the 2026 midterm elections. Democrats consistently outperformed most of their GOP opponents by double digits. Texas turned blue… let that sit for a minute. Another state elected a Democrat to Senate for the first time since the 1930’s. If this isn’t the voter being heard, I don’t know what more we should have expected. I slept quite well last night despite going to bed near midnight watching results get announced. This is just the beginning though and there are still a ton of hills to climb and fight on.

Seeing that trump capitulated and announced he isn’t going to litigate or send in national guard is a reassuring sign, but I’ve seen this show before. A coherent trump doesn’t always stay that way and ends up going off the deep end at some point. I really do think there is something wrong with him that we’ve not been told is wrong with him. For the sake of the country in general, I hope he hears the voters and starts to back off a little. There are still about two months of GOP ruling still to go and anything can potentially happen. No love lost with Johnson getting the boot from House Speaker though, don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

I am still amazed at how much of a turn out there was for a midterm when traditionally most voters just stay home. I guess trump is good for one thing, he motivates people to want to vote and reverse this cancer on our country. A cancer that, only two years ago, most people thought we needed by the way. How quickly things change. I’ve been consistent with my support all along and have talked to anyone that would listen. Everyone I know in my life claimed they voted, and I’m inclined to believe them. I just hope this involvement remains consistent and our memories don’t fail us over the next two years and we again put the GOP back in power. It’s been typically disastrous when they’re in power, look at the facts of the past and it’s clear: Dems in power, starts getting better, GOP in power, starts getting worse. When has a democrat sent ICE into cities?

I’m happy this turned out the way the news outlets and polls predicted. Puts some faith back into the reporting institutions to give us mostly unbiased news. You can stay outside Fox News, no one wants you here. The next two years will be determined by the next two months ahead of all our new Blue buddies getting sworn into Congress. Hitching to trump is a death sentence for your political career, the GOP has some problems to overcome. Their rhetoric is no longer popular with people and it appears they are seeing the game for what it actually is, a game.
